Peter Stewart

Peter Stewart ( Peter John Stewart ; born August 8, 1947 ) is a retired British middle and long distance runner .

In 1970 he was Scottish champion, British runner-up in 1971 and British champion over 1500 m in 1972 . In the hall he was British runner-up over 1500 m in 1969 and British champion over 3000 m in 1971 .

At the European Athletics Indoor Championships in 1971 in Sofia, he won gold over 3000 m.

His brother Ian Stewart was also successful as a long-distance runner.
