Cosimo Caliandro
Cosimo Caliandro (born March 11, 1982 in Francavilla Fontana ; † June 10, 2011 ibid) was an Italian middle and long distance runner .
Life
In 2001 Caliandro was European Junior Champion over 1500 m . In 2004 he took 44th place on the short distance at the World Cross Country Championships in Brussels . In 2005 and 2006 he became national champions over 3000 m indoors , in 2006 outdoors over 5000 m .
At the European Athletics Indoor Championships in 2007 in Birmingham, he won over 3000 m. In 2010 he finished fourth at Roma - Ostia .
He died in 2011 when he collided head-on with a car on his motorcycle. The athlete, nicknamed "Mimmo", left a wife and two sons.
Cosimo Caliandro was 1.84 m tall and weighed 62 kg. He was trained by Stefano Cecchini and started for Fiamme Gialle.
