Andreas Rizzi

Andreas Rizzi (born May 6, 1959 in Mannheim ) is a former German sprinter and decathlete .

Life

He started for MTG Mannheim . With the Mannheim relay he became German youth champion in 1977. In 1981 Rizzi became German champion in the decathlon and in 1983 German runner-up over 100 meters .

In 1983 he was seventh best in the world in the decathlon. As fourth best in Germany, however, he was not qualified for the World Championships in Helsinki, which is why Rizzi started in the sprint. In Helsinki he reached the quarter-finals over 200 meters and came in fifth as the final runner with the German team in the 4 x 100 meter relay .

In 1983 he was honored with the silver laurel leaf by Federal President Carstens.

His twin brother Thomas Rizzi was also a successful decathlete, he finished second in 1983 and third in 1985 in the German championships.
