Simon Vroemen (born May 11, 1969 in Delft ) is a former Dutch obstacle runner .

Career

Vroemen holds the current European record with 8: 04.95 min in the 3000 m obstacle course, run in Brussels on August 26, 2005.

At the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney he finished twelfth, and at the European Athletics Championships in Munich in 2002 he won the silver medal.

At the 2003 World Championships in Athletics in Paris / Saint-Denis, he finished seventh in the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens and sixth at the 2005 World Championships in Helsinki fifth.

At the European Athletics Championships in Gothenburg in 2006, he gave himself an infusion, which is against anti-doping regulations. In early July 2008, after meeting the qualification standard for the Beijing Olympics , it was revealed that Vroemen, who was under contract with Stefan Matschiner , tested positive for the anabolic steroid hormone metandienone and was suspended. Vroemen was acquitted in 2010.

Simon Vroumen is 1.89 m tall and weighs 69 kg. He is a microbiologist and works as an engineer at the oil company Royal Dutch Shell . His residence was Hamburg and now The Hague.
