Luis Miguel Martín

Luis Miguel Martín ( Luis Miguel Martín Berlanas ; born January 11, 1972 in Madrid ) is a former Spanish obstacle runner .

The former middle-distance runner switched to the 3,000-meter obstacle course in 1998 and immediately became Ibero-American champion and fourth at the European Athletics Championships in Budapest . The following year he set his first of four national records with a time of 8: 11.18 minutes, but failed in the run-up to the World Athletics Championships in Seville .

In 2000 he was Spanish champion and fifth at the Olympic Games in Sydney . The following year he was fourth at the World Championships in Edmonton , and in 2002 he won the bronze medal at the European Championships in Munich .

A sixth place at the 2003 World Championships in Paris / Saint-Denis was followed by a fifth at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens and an eleventh at the 2005 World Championships in Helsinki. In September 2009 he announced his retirement from competitive sports.

Luis Miguel Martín is 1.80 m tall and weighed 67 kg at competition times. He was trained by Manuel Pascua and joined the Nike team in 2000 .
