Joël Bourgeois

Joël Bourgeois ( Joël Denis Bourgeois; born April 25, 1971 in Moncton ) is a Canadian endurance athlete , obstacle runner and two-time Olympic athlete (1996, 2000).

Career

Cross-country run since 1992

In 1992 he came in 89th place at the World Cross Country Championships in Boston .

In 1994 he was sixth in the Commonwealth Games in Victoria over 3000 m obstacle, and in 1995 he was sixth in the same discipline at the Pan American Games in Mar del Plata and won silver at the Universiade .

At the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta, he reached the semifinals.

In 1997 he ran at the Cross Country World Championships in Turin on 187th place. In 1998 a 41st place on the short distance at the Cross Country World Championships in Marrakech was followed by a fourth place at the Commonwealth Games in Kuala Lumpur . In the following year he finished 35th at the 1999 Cross Country World Championships on the short distance, won bronze at the Universiade, won the Pan American Games in Winnipeg and was eliminated in the preliminary run at the World Athletics Championships in Seville .

2000 followed a 72nd place on the short distance at the Cross Country World Championships in Vilamoura and a preliminary round at the Olympic Games in Sydney .

In 2001 he was ranked 44th at the cross-country championship in Oostende on the short distance and 14th at the World Championships in Edmonton . In the following year he was 46th on the short distance of the 2002 cross-country championship in Dublin. At the Commonwealth Games in Manchester he was fifth and at the Athletics World Cup in Madrid ninth. In 2003 he came back to 46th place at the Cross Country World Championships in Avenches and won silver at the Pan American Games in Santo Domingo .

Snowshoeing since 2012

In 2012 he started at the World Championships in snowshoeing and finished sixth on March 11th. In 2015, he finished third at the World Snowshoeing Championships in Vezza d'Oglio, Italy .
