The Amsterdam Marathon is a marathon in Amsterdam that has been held annually since 1975 (with the exception of 1978), since October 1999. It is the second largest in the Netherlands after the Rotterdam Marathon and, like the latter, is also one of the fastest in the world (see ranking of the fastest marathon events ).

The start and finish is in the Olympic Stadium , which dates from 1928 and is the main venue for the 1928 Summer Games . After a first lap of seven kilometers you run past the stadium again before you start the second, larger lap. It goes through a charming natural landscape on both sides of the Amstel (as part of the former Olympic route), then through the city ​​center of Amsterdam with the "Scheepvaartmuseum", the historic canals , the Rijksmuseum and finally, as at the beginning, through the famous Vondelpark .

The route is flat and fast, but also prone to wind. The time measurement is done by ChampionChip .
