The Dubai Marathon (official name Standard Chartered Dubai Marathon after the main sponsor, the Standard Chartered Bank ) is an IAAF Gold Label awarded marathon in the United Arab Emirates . It has been held in Dubai since January 2000 . In 2018, seven men ran under 2:05 hours, more than ever before in a single marathon race. The competition also includes a 10 km run.

The start and finish of the runs are at Zabeel Park . While the distance of the 10 km run consists of two laps on the 2nd Zabeel Road , the marathon runners first go to the coast of the Persian Gulf , which is reached after about 5 km. Along the beach of Jumeirah the course now runs straight as a bolt until the turning point at Madinat Jumeirah is reached shortly after the Wild Wadi Water Park , the Jumeirah Beach Hotel and the Burj al Arab . From there it's the same route back to the starting point. The time measurement is done by ChampionChip .
