Ayele Abshero (born December 28, 1990 in Yeboba ) is an Ethiopian long-distance runner .

He made his first international appearance at the junior race of the Cross Country World Championships in 2008 , where he won silver. In autumn he won the Zevenheuvelenloop over 15 km.

In 2009 he won gold in the junior race of the Cross Country World Championships in Amman and came third in the Montferland Run .

In 2010 he came in 24th place at the senior cross-country championships in Bydgoszcz . A victory in the Hemmeromloop was followed by a third place in the Zevenheuvelenloop.

In 2011 he won the Egmond Half Marathon and came fourth in the CPC Loop Den Haag .

At the beginning of the 2012 season, he set a course record in the Dubai Marathon . His time of 2:04:23 h was the fastest ever debut over the 42.195 km distance. In the spring, he won the Yangzhou Jianzhen Half Marathon .

His brother Tessema Absher is a successful marathon runner.
