CPC Loop The Hague

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The CPC Loop Den Haag (short for City - Pier - City Loop ) is a half marathon in The Hague . It has been held in March or April since 1975. The program also includes a 5 km and a 10 km run.

history

The run took place for the first time on April 12, 1975. On the nominal 15 km, but actually 14.5 km long course from the Lange Voorhout to the Prinsestraat , the Dutchman Henk Kalf won in 42:53 minutes. Since 1976 the race has been half marathon distance (21.0975 km). Women have also been at the start since 1980. Today the run is the largest sporting event in the city. In 2019 the event had to be canceled due to extreme weather conditions.

route

The race takes place on a large circuit between the city and the sea, which is run counter-clockwise. The start is in the city center on the Herengracht, then the Grote Kerk and a loop through the Segbroek district and finally the Scheveningen district , on whose beach the course runs between km 12 and km 15. Partly through parks, partly along the Koninginnegracht, it then goes to the destination, which is not far from the start on the Lange Voorhout .
