Hilda Kibet (born March 27, 1981 in Kapchorwa, Elgeyo-Marakwet County ) is a Dutch long-distance runner of Kenyan origin.

Lornah Kiplagat's niece met the Dutch marathon runner Hugo van de Broek at her training camp in Iten in 2000 , fell in love with him and followed him to the Netherlands, her aunt's adopted home. There she initially concentrated on her training as a physiotherapist at the Hogeschool van Amsterdam and in 2004 earned a bachelor's degree . Then she started successfully in road runs . Among other things, she won the Parelloop in 2004 and 2007 , the Egmond Half Marathon in 2005 and 2007 , the Montferland Run in 2006 and the CPC Loop The Hague and the New York City Half Marathon in 2007 .

On October 11, 2007, she received Dutch nationality . Immediately afterwards she made her debut on the marathon course and finished sixth in the Amsterdam Marathon in 2:32:10 h.

In 2008 she focused on shorter distances. At the beginning of the year she became Dutch champion over 10 km and with 31:01 minutes was only two seconds above her aunt's national record. At the Cross Country World Championships she was fifth, and on the track she qualified with a time of 30: 58.48 min for the 10,000 meter run at the Olympic Games in Beijing , where she finished 15th. In June she won the New York Mini 10K and in December she won gold at the European Cross Country Championships .

The following year she was sixth at the World Cross Country Championships in Amman and was third overall in the Amsterdam Marathon, the Dutch champion over the 42.195 km distance.

In 2010 she was seventh at the RAK half marathon , tenth at the World Cross Country Championships in Bydgoszcz and won the Dam tot Damloop . At the European Championships in Barcelona she was first fourth in the 10,000 m. However, after the runner-up Inga Abitowa was suspended, Kibet received the bronze medal. At the 2012 Olympic Marathon in London, she finished 15th.

Hilda Kibet is 1.67 m tall, weighs 46 kg and lives in Castricum . She is trained by Gerard van Lent and starts for AV Castricum. Her younger sister Sylvia Jebiwott Kibet is also successful as a long-distance runner, starting for Kenya.
