Runners in the 2008 Mumbai Marathon

The Mumbai Marathon (official name Tata Mumbai Marathon after the title sponsor, the Tata Group ) is the most important marathon in India in terms of the number of participants and the elite starters . It has been held in Mumbai since 2004 . In addition to the full 42.195 km route, the program also includes a half marathon , a Dream Run without timekeeping over 6 km, a Senior Citizens' Run over 4.3 km and a race for wheelchair users over 2.5 km.

The start and finish of all routes is in front of the Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus . After one and a half kilometers you reach the coastal road, on which a short turning point route to the south is first passed. After four kilometers there is a long turning point stretch heading north. For the half marathon runners the turning point is just after the Nehru Center, the marathon runners travel another 10 km north before turning back.
