From 1947 to 1960 (with the exception of 1955) the race was held as a Kagawa Marathon , from 1947 to 1951 and 1953 in Takamatsu . In 1949, a 20 km run was added to the program. From 1961 to 1970 the track lengths were 35 km (1968 not held) and 10 km. From 1971 to 1996 the longer route was 20 km. The current distance has been run since 1997, and the 10 km run was held for the last time in 2000. Women have been competing in the half marathon since 2000, and elite runners have also been taking part in the same year.
