Marseille - Cassis is a popular and street run that connects the two French cities of Marseille and Cassis . It has been held in October since 1979 and is organized by the SCO Sainte-Marguerite association. The route length is 20.308 km; Because of the 327 meters of altitude to be overcome , the times roughly correspond to those of a flat half marathon .
history
About 700 runners took part in the first event in 1979. Over the years the race has become one of the most popular in France, so for some years now the number of registrations has been limited to 12,000.
Since 1990, the L'Autre Marseille - Cassis hike has been taking place on the day before the run and runs south of the run through the Calanque massif.
route
The start is at the Stade Vélodrome in Marseille. From there it goes on a country road closed to traffic up to the Col de la Gineste, the highest point of the route, which is reached at km 10. The second half of the route runs steadily downhill to the destination, the port of Cassis.
