Edith Chelimo (born July 16, 1986 ) is a Kenyan long-distance runner. Her favorite disciplines are road runs over 10 kilometers and the half marathon .

Career

Edith Chelimo started her international career in 2004 and ran mainly in the UK, France and the Netherlands. At the World Junior Athletics Championships 2004 in Grosseto (Italy) from July 12th to 18th, she represented her country in the 5000 meter run and was eleventh in the final. In 2005 she fell ill and did not race for a long time. From 2010 she took part in international races again. In the Cardiff half marathon on October 1, 2017, she ran a time of 65:52 minutes. and during this time it was 17th in the all-time world rankings (as of March 31, 2020). In the same year, Chelimo also won the 20-kilometer classic Marseille-Cassis , setting it in 65:58 minutes. set a new course record in a personal best.

Edith Chelimo's parents are long-distance runners as well, as is her older sister.
