Iness Chepkesis Chenonge (born February 1, 1982 in Saboti, Trans-Nzoia District , Rift Valley Province ) is a Kenyan long-distance runner .

Life

In 2001 she won the half marathon course of the South Tyrol Marathon with the current course record of 1:13:06 h. Her best time over this distance comes from the same year (1:10:35 h). At the 2002 Commonwealth Games in Manchester, she won bronze in the 5,000-meter run , and at the 2006 Commonwealth Games in Melbourne, she was sixth over the same distance.

After a baby break the following year, she returned in 2008 with a victory in the road running classic Marseille - Cassis .

At the 2009 World Athletics Championships in Berlin, she was sixth over 5000 m.

Iness Chepkesis Chenonge is 1.68 m tall and weighs 48 kg. She started running in her senior year 2000 after having become passionate about volleyball and netball . She was discovered during a run organized by the Italian manager Gabriele Rosa and joined a training camp run by Shem Kororia . Her employer is the Kenyan army, where she completed her training as a training manager in 2004. Her husband is the middle-distance runner Suleiman Kipses Simotwo , with whom she has a daughter. At the beginning of 2009 she changed her management and is now being looked after by Golazo Sports .
