Şehitkamil ( Kurdish ئالێبان Alêban ) is a district and at the same time the name of a district in the Turkish province of Gaziantep in southeastern Anatolia . Şehitkamil is the northern municipality of Gaziantep . The district had 672,159 inhabitants in 2012.

Şehitkamil is in the north of the province and borders the Kahramanmaraş province . The place is named after the martyr Mehmet Kamil, who fought against the French occupiers after the First World War .
