Şahinbey ( Kurdish شاهینبەی Şahînbey ) is a district in the south of the Gaziantep Province in southeastern Turkey . Part of Gaziantep City is part of Şahinbey County.
Şahinbey is named after the commander of the Kuvayı Milliye in Antep Şahin Bey, who was killed during the French occupation of the city of Antep after the First World War . In 2009, 721,982 people lived in the entire district.
It is known for its agricultural products in Gaziantep, which include grapes , pistachios and common vegetables.
