Teyba Erkesso (born October 30, 1982 in the province of Arsi ) is an Ethiopian long-distance runner who is particularly successful in road runs .

She made her first appearance at international championships at the 2001 World Half Marathon Championships , where she finished 20th and won bronze with the Ethiopian team. In 2003 she won the Marseille - Cassis race .

In 2004 she won bronze at the World Cross Country Championships on the short distance and was fifth on the long distance. At the end of the year she won the Trier New Year's Eve run . In 2005 she won the half marathon of Reims à toutes jambes . In the following year she won the Course Féminine de Casablanca and contributed to the fact that the Ethiopian team won silver at the road running world championships in Debrecen over 20 km with a tenth place in 1:06:15 h.

In 2009 she set a course record at the Houston Marathon on her debut over the marathon distance with 2:24:18 h . Victories at the 10 km of the Ottawa Race Weekend and the Freihofer's Run for Women followed in the fall a fourth place in the Chicago Marathon .

In 2010, she defended her title in Houston with another course record, finished fourth in the RAK Half Marathon and won the Boston Marathon .
