Michael Genz (born July 16, 1975 ) is a former German summer biathlete .

Michael Genz lives in Oberaudorf and started for Immergrün Aising . The chemist was trained by Hans-Ulrich Spengler and Sepp Robeis. He first took part in the summer biathlon world championships in Jablonec nad Nisou in 2002 and immediately won the bronze medal in the sprint behind Marek Matiaško and Maksim Malenkih . It was until the 2008 Summer Biathlon World Championships in Haute-Maurienne that Niklas Heyser won another medal, not only the first, but also the only medal for a German summer biathlete for years. In the pursuit, Genz fell back to sixth place, with the season he was seventh. A year later he improved by one place to sixth in the relay race alongside Roman Böttcher , Frank Röttgen and Wilhelm Rösch . He was also 18th in the sprint, 16th in the pursuit and 14th in the mass start race. In the Summer Biathlon European Cup , second places in sprint, pursuit and mass start in 2002 and 2003 were the best results.
