Wilhelm Rösch (born March 18, 1974 ) is a former German biathlete and summer biathlete .

Career

Wilhelm Rösch from WSV Clausthal-Zellerfeld was active in the winter biathlon from 1985 to 1997 and achieved as a youth a. a. some top placements at German youth championships and was in the junior squad of the German Ski Association. Between 1999 and 2006 he took part in five summer biathlon world championships in the cross country discipline. In 2000, his best result in Khanty-Mansiysk was 28th in the pursuit after being 31st in the sprint. He achieved the best results in 2003 in Forni Avoltri with 21st place in the mass start and sixth place in the German men's relay with Roman Böttcher , Michael Genz and Frank Röttgen . In 2004 in Osrblie , the season Rösch, Sebastian Blecke , Frank Röttgen and Steffen Jabin took seventh place. In addition, Rösch was 16th in the sprint, 19th in the pursuit and 18th in the mass start. He ran his last World Cup in Ufa in 2006 . In the sprint he came in 27th, in the pursuit he was 19th He also took part in the sprint competition on roller skis, where he finished 15th.

In 2013, at the 16th IBU Masters World Championships in Kontiolahti / FIN, he won the gold medal in the M35 age group both in the sprint and in the individual competition. This was followed by more gold medals in 2014 and 2015. At the 19th IBU World Masters Championships in 2016, he again won the sprint competition. From 2007 to 2012 he was consistently at the top of the IBU Masters World Championships.

At the Winter World Master Games from 10. – 19. January 2020 in Innsbruck / AUT, Rösch won the biathlon sprint competition. In the individual competition he was able to win the silver medal. With the German biathlon relay (Albert Staller, Wilhelm Rösch, André Scheer) he took 4th place in the AK 40-49.

At national level, Rösch was German sprint champion in 2004 and won bronze in the mass start. He also won the title with the season. In 2005 he was able to win the relay title again and be third in the sprint. In 2006 he was again runner-up in sprint and mass start. With the cross-country relay, he won the Lower Saxony championship in 2003.

After his active career, he first worked for the Biathlon Association of the Netherlands and from 2007 to 2012 as managing director and sports director of the Hessian Ski Association. Rösch has been the commercial director of the management team at the Württemberg State Sports Association since 2012. In 2014 he was named as a further managing director of the Ruit GmbH sports and youth leadership school. The GmbH was liquidated through the transfer of operations to the WLSB in 2016.
