Alena Peterková
Alena Peterková (born Pavlíková ; born November 13, 1960 in Ostrava ) is a former Czech long-distance runner , duathlete and Olympian (1992).
Career
In 1987 she first attracted attention with two Czechoslovak records over 10,000 m .
In 1989 she became national champion over this distance as the overall winner of the Košice Marathon . Her winning time in Košice (2:31:28 h) was her third national marathon record within a year; she had previously set up two at Siegen in Szeged and Bonn . She also won the Enschede Marathon that year and was tenth in the New York City Marathon .
At the marathon of the European Athletics Championships in 1990 in Split, she did not reach the goal. In the following two years she was again Czechoslovakian champion over 10,000 m. In 1991 she won the Egmond Half Marathon , was fifth in the Osaka Women's Marathon , second in the Cleveland Marathon and fourth in New York.
1992 Summer Olympics
The following year she came in 24th at the Barcelona Olympic Games marathon and 17th at the World Half Marathon Championships in South Shields .
From 1993 she started for the Czech Republic and became national marathon champion this year and the following two. In 1993 she was fifth in New York City, fourth in the Boston Marathon in 1994 and ninth in New York City. Further successes in road races from these years are victories at Marseille - Cassis in 1993, at the Murten run in 1993 and 1994, at the 25 km from Berlin in 1994 and 1995 and a 13th place at the World Half Marathon Championships in 1994 in Oslo.
Doping ban 1995
In 1995 the anabolic steroid nandrolone was detected in her , she was convicted of doping and banned for two years.
In September 1997 she finished eleventh at the Duathlon World Championship after her suspension in Spain.
ETU European Duathlon Champion 1998
In 1998 she became ETU European Duathlon Champion, second in both the Belgrade Marathon and the Monaco Marathon, and placed 39th at the World Half Marathon Championships in Uster . In 1999 Alena Peterková became vice European champion in the duathlon . In 2000 she won the Dębno marathon . In the same year she was second overall in the Prague Marathon for the fourth time Czech marathon champion. In the following year she defended this title in the same place as third overall.
She won other Czech championship titles in the half marathon (1995), over 5000 m (2000), over 10,000 m (1994, 2000), in the 10 km road run (1993) and in the cross country run (1998).
Alena Peterková is 1.67 m tall and weighed 53 kg when she was active. She started for the clubs TJ Vítkovice and BMK Havířov.
