The BYD G3 is an extended version of the BYD F3 built by the Chinese automaker BYD Auto from 2009 to 2014 . As a station wagon, the vehicle was offered as BYD G3R from 2010 .
Model history
It was formally presented as a notchback sedan in 2009 in Jinan , Shandong and was delivered from October 2009. The hatchback followed at the 2010 Guangzhou Auto Show and was sold from 2011. In 2012, prototypes of the vehicle with a presumed facelift were photographed, it is uncertain whether the changes were also implemented on production vehicles. The hatchback version was introduced in 2013 as the F3R in South American markets.
body
In China there are traditionally multilevel hierarchies, which are also reflected in the choice of car models. This means that long versions are in demand even for comparatively small models. Numerous European manufacturers also offer mid-range and upper mid-range models in two length versions, especially in China. BYD has continued this down with the G3.
At 4.6 m, the G3 is around 70 mm longer than the F3, and the wheelbase is 10 mm longer.
This notchback version sold around 12,000 times in the first half of 2010, which is only a little more than 1 ⁄ 10 of the F3.
Furnishing
The equipment is much higher quality than the F3: In addition to the standard air conditioning and CD player with USB connection, the G3 also offers a navigation system , LED taillights, leather seats and remote-controlled central locking .
drive
Unlike the F3 and its hatchback variant F3R , a 1.8-liter gasoline engine (engine code: BYD483QA) with a maximum output of 90 kW was also offered for the model. There were also two 1.5-liter gasoline engines. The one with 78 kW maximum power was supplied by Mitsubishi (engine code: 4G15S) and the one with 79 kW (engine code: BYD473QB) is an engine manufactured by BYD. The Mitsubishi engine was replaced in 2011 by a 1.5-liter BYD engine (engine code: BYD473QE) with a maximum output of 80 kW.
A five-speed manual gearbox was offered as standard for the 1.5-liter engines, and in 2011 a six-speed dual-clutch gearbox was added at an additional cost , which was only available for the notchback but not for the station wagon. The 1.8-liter engine was only available with a continuously variable transmission . All engine variants have front-wheel drive .
