The BYD Yuan is a crossover SUV produced by the Chinese automobile manufacturer BYD Auto , a subsidiary of the BYD group. In other markets such as Costa Rica or Uruguay , the car is marketed as the BYD S1 .
Launch
The vehicle was first presented in April 2015 at the Shanghai Auto Show . It has been on sale in China since April 2016. An electrically powered version has also been on the market since May 2018.
The BYD Yuan is visually similar to the second generation Ford EcoSport . The crossover SUV is named after the Yuan dynasty .
Technical specifications
The two 1.5-liter gasoline engines available at the market launch have either 80 kW (109 hp) or 113 kW (154 hp). The electric versions introduced in 2018 have 70 kW (95 PS) or 160 kW (218 PS). In spring 2019, a new battery-electric version was presented, which is equipped with more battery capacity and different cell chemistry.
