Gyeongju International Marathon
The Gyeongju International Marathon is a marathon in Gyeongju jointly organized by Gyeongsangbuk-do Province , Gyeongju City, the Korean Athletics Federation and the Dong-a Ilbo newspaper . The event also includes a half marathon , a 10 km and a 5 km run. The Gyeongju International Marathon was an IAAF Silver Label Road Race from 2010 to 2012 .
history
The Dong-a Ilbo newspaper moved the Seoul International Marathon , which it organized every spring, to Chuncheon in 1992 and to Gyeongju in 1993, where it took place until 1999. In 2000 she brought this race back to Seoul and from now on hosted a marathon in Gyeongju in autumn, which was aimed in particular at amateur runners from the Masters category.
In 2007 the Gyeongju Marathon was upgraded to the Gyeongju International Marathon by signing top international runners .
Gyeongju is also the venue for a Cherry Blossom Marathon. This amateur race takes place every year at cherry blossom time.
