The Daegu Marathon is a running event that has been held in Daegu since 2001 . Originally a half marathon , which was used to prepare for the soccer World Cup in 2002 , the marathon distance was introduced in 2007 . In the run-up to the 2011 World Athletics Championships , the run was converted into an elite race called the Daegu International Marathon in 2009 .

The organizers are the Daegu City Sports Council and the South Korean Athletics Federation. The start and finish is in Daegu Stadium . The program also includes a 10 km run.
