Mathew Kipkoech Kisorio (born May 16, 1989 in Kapchumba , Nandi County ) is a Kenyan long-distance runner .

Career

With a time of 58:46 minutes for the half marathon , he is the fourth fastest man in the all-time world rankings. In the world rankings of 10,000 meter runners, he is 40th with a best time of under 27 minutes (26:54 min / 2011) (as of October 2016).

In 2007 he won bronze at the junior races of the World Cross Country Championships in Mombasa and in 2008 at the Junior World Championships in Beijing bronze over 5000 meters .

His first big success in the adult field was a sixth place at the 2009 World Cross Country Championships in Amman . In 2010 he finished eighth in the Lisbon Half Marathon , fourth over 10,000 m at the African Athletics Championships in Nairobi , set a course record in the Philadelphia Half Marathon and came second in the Porto Half Marathon .

In 2011 he won fourth place at the Cross Country World Championships in Punta Umbría, winning the Stramilano and the 25 km from Berlin . In the fall, he ran the fastest time on US soil in the Philadelphia Half Marathon with 58:46 minutes and came tenth in the New York City Marathon .

In 2012 he won the Kagawa Marugame Half Marathon and finished tenth in the Boston Marathon . On July 25, 2012, he was found to be an anabolic steroid and was banned from doping for two years. Mathew Kipkoech Kisorio is 1.78 m and weighs 64 kg. He is the fourth of seven children of the long-distance runner Some Muge , who in 1983 became the first Kenyan to win a medal at the World Cross Country Championships. His coach is Claudio Berardelli and his manager is Federico Rosa.
