The Lisbon Half Marathon ( Portuguese Meia Maratona de Lisboa ) is one of the largest and most important half marathons in the world. It has been held in Lisbon since 1991 , usually in March.

The start is on the Ponte 25 de Abril . From there it goes north to the Alcântara district and then on a turning point route to the east along the Tagus , which includes a loop to Rossio , Praça da Figueira and Praça do Comércio . At km 18, the bridge on which the start was started is crossed in a westerly direction. The goal is on the Praça do Império in front of the Mosteiro dos Jerónimos . Since the route has a net gradient of 69 meters in altitude , it is not suitable for records or leaderboards. In order to remedy this, there has been a separate start at sea level for the elite runners since 2008.
