Mohammed Mourhit
Mohammed Mourhit (born October 10, 1970 in Khouribga ) is a Belgian long-distance runner of Moroccan origin.
At the Moroccan national championships in 1992 and 1995, he won the 1,500-meter run and in 1993 the 5,000-meter run .
In 1997 he received Belgian citizenship due to a marriage and ran the current Belgian national record in the half marathon with 1:00:18 h . At the 1999 World Championships in Seville , he was third in the 5000 meter run. In the same year he set a European record over 10,000 meters with 26: 52.30 h .
In the following year, two European records followed over 3000 meters (7: 26.62 min) and 5000 meters (12: 49.71 min). In 2000 and 2001 he won gold at the World Cross Country Championships .
In 2002, he was given a three-year ban for erythropoietin (EPO) abuse , which was later reduced by one year.
