Paul Evans (athlete)
Paul Evans (born April 13, 1961 in Glasgow ) is a former English long-distance runner .
He was twice English champion in the 10,000-meter run (1993 and 1999). At the 1992 Olympics , Evans finished eleventh over 10,000 meters. Four years later in Atlanta he gave up in the final.
In 1992 he finished fifth in the London Marathon . In 1995 he took the same place there and came second in the New York City Marathon . In 1996 he finished third in the London Marathon, and that same year saw his greatest achievement when he won the Chicago Marathon in 2:08:52. This makes him the fourth fastest British runner over the marathon distance to this day (as of December 2007) .
In 2001 he set a European record for the M40 age group at the Great North Run with 1:03:15.
