Rose Chelimo (born July 12, 1989 ) is a Bahraini long-distance runner of Kenyan origin who specializes in road running and has been eligible to compete in Bahrain since 2016.

Career

In 2010 she won the 20 km of Paris and came second in the Saint-Denis half marathon and the Foulées Monterelaises. The following year she was fourth in the Humarathon , second in the Lille Half Marathon , set a course record at Auray - Vannes , came third in the 20 km from Paris and won the Foulées Monterelaises.

In 2012 she was seventh in the RAK half marathon , fourth in the Prague half marathon and fifth in the 10 km race of the Paderborn Easter run . In 2014 she won the 25th International Alster Race over 10 kilometers in Hamburg and set a new course record with 32:05 minutes. In 2015 she won the Lisbon half marathon and the Budweis half marathon and came second in the Olomouc half marathon .

In 2016 Chelimo won the Seoul International Marathon in a personal best of 2:24:14 h. She changed nationality for the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro and has since started for Bahrain . She reached eighth place in the marathon with a time of 2:27:36 h.

In 2017 Chelimo took second place in the Boston Marathon in 2:22:51 h behind the Kenyan Edna Ngeringwony Kiplagat . At the World Championships in London she won the gold medal in the marathon in 2:27:11 h and prevailed against Kiplagat with a lead of seven seconds.

At the 2018 Half Marathon World Championships in Valencia, Chelimo finished 14th. A month later she was sixth in the London Marathon . At the Asian Games in Jakarta , she won the gold medal in the marathon.
