Wanda Panfil

Wanda Marianna Panfil (after marriage to Wanda Panfil-Gonzales ; born January 26, 1959 in Opoczno ) is a Polish long-distance runner .

In 1990 she won the London Marathon and the New York City Marathon . In 1991 she won the Boston Marathon in her personal best of 2:24:18 h and won the marathon of the World Championships in Tokyo .

Panfil won twelve Polish championship titles in the disciplines of 3000 meters , 5000 meters , 20 km road running , marathon and cross-country running and set nine national records on the track distances of 3000, 5000 and 10,000 meters.

In 1990 and 1991 she was voted Sportswoman of the Year in Poland . She also won the Złote Kolce ("Golden Spikes") award in 1990 and 1991

She is married to the Mexican runner Mauricio González .
