Sportsman of the year (Poland)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Polish Sportsman of the Year has been determined by readers of the Przegląd Sportowy (Sport-Rundschau) newspaper since 1926 . Only in the years 1939 to 1947 and in 1953, the year of Stalin's death, were there no elections. Each reader can name ten athletes on their ballot that they consider to be the best of the year. Cross-country skier Justyna Kowalczyk was chosen for the athlete of the year 2013 for the fifth time in a row and is thus the sole record winner, followed by athletes Irena Szewińska , Stanisława Walasiewicz and ski jumper Adam Małysz (4 times each).
