Sportsman of the year (Slovenia)
The Slovenian Sportsman of the Year has been elected annually since 1968 by Slovenian sports journalists. Between 1968 and 1991 it was awarded to athletes from the Yugoslav republic of Slovenia. After the independence of Slovenia, the award was continued according to tradition.
The most successful athletes with four awards each are ski jumper Peter Prevc and swimmer Borut Petrič . Among the athletes, ski racer Mateja Svet is the most successful with seven awards.
