Vasilij Žbogar (born October 4, 1975 in Koper ) is a Slovenian sailor.

Career

Žbogar was able to win the bronze medal in the open class with the laser at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens . He was later voted Sportsman of the Year 2004 in Slovenia. Four years later, at the Olympic Games in Beijing , there was a competition with lasers for both sexes. Here, too, Žbogar competed again and this time won the silver medal. In his third Olympic participation in 2012 , he was without a medal. In Rio de Janeiro 2016, however, he was able to win silver again, this time in the Finn Dinghy class. At the opening ceremony he led the Slovenian delegation into the stadium as the flag bearer when the nations marched in.
