Jolanda Čeplak

Jolanda Čeplak (born Steblovnik ; born September 12, 1976 in Celje ) is a former Slovenian middle-distance runner who became European champion and Olympic third party in the 800-meter run .

Career

At the beginning of her career, Čeplak was not limited to a specific length of the route, but ran all possible distances. Only later did she specialize in the 800 meters. At the European Indoor Championships in 2000 she was fourth and at the 2001 World Indoor Championships sixth.

In 2002 she had her breakthrough. Among other things, she won the gold medal over 800 meters at the European Indoor Championships in Vienna and set an indoor world record. She also won gold over 800 meters at the 2002 European Championships in Munich . In 2003 she ran in fourth place at the World Indoor Championships .

At the 2004 World Indoor Championships in Budapest , she won the silver medal in the 800 meter run and the bronze medal over 800 meters at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens behind Kelly Holmes (GBR) and Hasna Benhassi (MAR). In 2007 she won bronze at the European Indoor Championships .

Doping ban 2007

In June of the same year, Jolanda Čeplak tested positive for erythropoietin (EPO) during an unannounced doping control in Monaco , where she was then suspended by the IAAF . A two-year ban has been imposed by the Slovenian Athletics Federation. Čeplak was trained by the former Leipzig sports doctor Helmut Stechemesser, whose protégés also included Stephanie Graf and Susanne Pumper, who were convicted of doping .

Jolanda Čeplak was 1.68 m tall and had a competition weight of 52 kg. Čeplak's Slovenian record over 800 meters has been 1: 55.19 minutes since 2002.
