Tatiana Petrovna Prowidochina

Tatyana Petrovna Prowidochina ( Russian Татьяна Петровна Провидохина , English transcription Tatyana Providokhina ; born March 26, 1953 ) is a former Russian middle-distance runner who started third in the Olympics for the Soviet Union .

On August 20, 1978, in Podolsk , she set a world record over 1000 meters with 2: 30.6 minutes that was not confirmed by the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) , which was only set by Christine Wachtel (GDR) on August 17, 1990 the record confirmed by the IAAF was replaced but not broken. This was only achieved by Maria de Lurdes Mutola on August 25, 1995 in Brussels with a time of 2: 29.34 minutes.

At the 1980 Olympic Games in Moscow , she won the bronze medal in the 800-meter run behind Nadija Olisarenko and Olga Minejewa (both URS).
