Gerda Kraan
Gerarda "Gerda" Maria Kraan (born July 30, 1933 in Leiden ) is a former Dutch athlete and European champion.
The final in the 800-meter run at the 1962 European Championships in Belgrade was very quick, with five national records being set. Nevertheless, Gerda Kraan had a two-second lead over second-placed Waltraud Kaufmann from the GDR when she set a new European record with 2: 02.8 minutes and won gold.
At the Olympic Games in 1964 , this time was enough for bronze, while the British Ann Packer set a new world record in 2: 01.1. Gerda Kraan was no longer in the shape of 1962. She could certainly qualify for the final, but there she only achieved seventh place in 2: 05.8.
