Lynsey Sharp  (born July 11,   1990  in Dumfries  , Scotland  ) is a British   middle  -distance  runner  who specializes in the  800-meter distance  . Her biggest success so far is winning the gold medal at the 2012 European Championships  in Helsinki.
 
Career  
Lynsey Sharp won the silver medal in the 800-meter run at the U23 European Championships  in Ostrava  in 2011  and the gold medal at the 2012 European Championships  in Helsinki  a year later . In both competitions she moved up one place due to the subsequent disqualification of Jelena Arshakova  from Russia  , in which excessive hemoglobin  values were found. At the 2012 Olympic Games  in London  , Lynsey Sharp reached the semifinals. In 2014 she won the silver medal for Scotland  starting at the Commonwealth Games  in Glasgow  . Another silver medal at the European Championships  in Zurich was  followed by a fifth place at the Athletics Continental Cup  in Marrakech  . At the 2015 World Championships  in Beijing  , she was eliminated in the semifinals. The following year she reached the finals at the 2016 Olympic Games  in Rio de Janeiro  and was sixth in the victory of South African Caster Semenya  in a new personal best of 1: 57.69 minutes.
 
Lynsey Sharp starts for the Edinburgh Athletic Club  and has been coached by the American Rana Reider  since 2014 . With a height of 175 cm, your competition weight is 60 kg. Her father is the former sprinter Cameron Sharp  , who won the silver medal in the 200-meter run  at the European Championships  in Athens  in 1982 .
