Cameron Sharp

Robert Cameron Sharp (born June 3, 1958 in Ayrshire , Scotland ) is a former British sprinter .

Career

In 1978 Sharp won the Commonwealth Games in Edmonton with the Scottish team in the 4 x 100 meter relay . At the European Athletics Championships in Prague , he came in sixth place with the British 4 x 100 meter relay.

At the Olympic Games in Moscow in 1980 he was seventh over 100 m and reached the semifinals over 200 m . In the 4 x 100 meter relay, he finished fourth with the British quartet.

In 1982 he won silver over 200 m at the European Championships in Athens and was fourth over 100 m. At the Commonwealth Games in Brisbane , bronze medals followed in the 100 m, 200 m and 4 x 100 m relay. At the World Athletics Championships in Helsinki in 1983 , he was eliminated over 100 m and 200 m in the semifinals.

At the World Indoor Games in Paris in 1985 , he was sixth over 60 m . His last major international success was the bronze medal he won with the Scottish 4 x 100 meter relay at the 1986 Commonwealth Games in Edinburgh.

In 1982 he was English champion over 100 m and in 1980 English indoor champion over 60 m. He won the British championship in 1980 and 1981 over 100 m and 1980 over 200 m. In 1982 he was Scottish champion over 200 m and in 1987 over 100 m.

Private

Since 1983 he has been married to the middle-distance runner Carol (née Lightfoot). Their daughter Lynsey Sharp became the European 800m champion in 2012.
