Finsternheim is a district of the local community Bundenthal in the district of Südwestpfalz in Rhineland-Palatinate . Until 1834 it was an independent municipality.

Finsternheim is located in the Wasgau in the southwest of the settlement area of the Bundenthal community and meanders along the right bank of the Wieslauter . Finsternheimer Strasse is located in this area . There is no spatial separation between the Finsternheim and the core town of Bundenthal. North also the already closes Rumbach belonging Falkenmühle on.
history
Until 1797 Finsternheim belonged to the Vogtei Schlettenbach . This in turn was part of the Weissenburg Provostry . From 1798 to 1814 the place was part of the First French Republic (until 1804) and then part of the First French Empire . In 1834 the place was finally incorporated into Bundenthal. From 1969 to 1989 he was part of the local community of Wieslautern together with Bundenthal and Bruchweiler-Bärenbach . In the meantime, Finsternheim is no longer perceived as an independent settlement.
Transport and infrastructure
The settlement area of Finsternheim consists of Finsternheimer Strasse , Friedhofstrasse and Wegelnburgstrasse . The Bundenthaler Friedhof is located on the south-eastern edge. Two half-timbered houses in Friedhofstrasse are also under monument protection .
