Sportsman of the Year (Iceland)
The Association of Icelandic Sports Journalists ( Icelandic samtök íþróttafréttamanna ) has been honoring the Icelandic Sportsman of the Year ( Icelandic íþróttamaður ársins ) every year since 1956 . The trophy thus awarded was presented to the Icelandic National Museum in 2007 on the occasion of the fiftieth anniversary of the award ceremony . A new cup has been awarded since 2006.
