Eygló Ósk Gústafsdóttir (born February 1, 1995 in Reykjavík ) is an Icelandic swimmer .

Athletic career

Eygló took part in the Summer Olympics for Iceland in 2012 and 2016 and reached 8th place in the final in the latter over 200 m back , setting a new Icelandic record over this distance in the semifinals. She also took part in the World Swimming Championships in Kazan in 2015 .

Eygló was honored in 2015 by the Association of Icelandic Sports Journalists ( Icelandic samtök íþróttafréttamanna ) as Sportsman of the Year ( Icelandic íþróttamaður ársins ).

In the summer of 2020, Eygló announced the end of her active career; In an interview with Morgunblaðið , she mentioned financial reasons and a back injury that she had struggled with over the past three years.
