The Alte Brauerei Potsdam is located in Babelsberg in the old weavers' colony behind the Alt Nowawes 30 and 30a property. The brewery consisted of several parts of the building. According to the few available documents, the cooling tower was first built between 1860 and 1875. From 1895 the main building in the neo-renaissance style and the horse stable were built. The “Schlossbräu” beer was brewed here until 1939.

During the war the vaulted cellars served as air raid shelters . Later there was a carpentry shop, workshop and various warehouses in the buildings. After the fall of the Wall the buildings stood empty and fell into disrepair. On behalf of the city, a redevelopment agency bought the property in 2004 and worked out a development plan .

A community of builders finally restored the brewery. After the restoration, condominiums were built in the brewery building . An architect moved his office into the former cold store. Families built new townhouses and a duplex in the weaver house style on the property. The old stable building is used by the residents for family holidays and cultural events.

In October 2014 the old brewery was named "Monument of the Month"
