After returning to Reykjavík, he won the Icelandic Cup with Valur against ÍA Akranes in 1974 . He then left Iceland and played for various clubs over the next ten years. First he was under contract for half a year in France with FC Metz , then in Denmark with Holbæk B&I . He made his debut on August 9, 1975 in a 1-0 victory in the League Cup against FC Aberdeen . After the game against Aberdeen at Parkhead , Edvaldsson established himself as a regular with solid performances. Although planned as a defender, he played very variably as a result and can be used in different positions. So he scored a hat trick on November 12, 1975 in Celtics 7-1 win over Ayr United . He was nicknamed Shuggy by the Celtic followers. In 1976 he lost with Celtic the league cup final against Glasgow Rangers at Old Firm with 0-1. A year later he won the championship and the cup with Celtic , and thus the national double. The triple was missed by a loss in the league cup against FC Aberdeen. In the difficult 1977/78 season the Celtic ended only fifth in the table, Eðvaldsson was next to Roddie MacDonald the central defense with ten goals top scorer in the league for the Bhoys. In the League Cup , there was again a defeat. Despite a goal from Eðvaldsson to equalize, Celtic lost 2-1 to the Rangers. In 1979 he won the championship a second time with Celtic. In February 1980 he moved from Glasgow to the Tulsa Roughnecks in the North American Soccer League . In addition to appearances in the ASL, he also played indoors in the Major Soccer League for the club from the US state of Oklahoma . In the 1981/82 season Eðvaldsson played for the German second division club Hannover 96 . He then spent two years with FC Motherwell in Scotland before ending his career with Þróttur Reykjavík in 1985 .
