Cape Town City Football Club is a soccer club from Cape Town , which plays in the top South African league, the Premier Soccer League . The club was formed in 2016 through the takeover of the bankrupt Mpumalanga Black Aces club , but has its roots in a club of the same name from the 1960s. The home stadium of the club is the Athlone Stadium , top games are played in the Cape Town World Cup stadium .

history

Cape Town City was created in 2016 when John Comitis took over the bankrupt Mpumalanga Black Aces . Comitis co-founded Ajax Cape Town in 1999 but sold all of its shares in 2013. In 2016 Comitis finally bought the Black Aces, which were based in Nelspruit , Mpumalanga , and relocated the club headquarters to Cape Town on the grounds that the city lacks a top club that reflects its full diversity.

Stadion

The club plays its games in the Athlone Stadium and the Cape Town World Cup Stadium in the Green Point district. In 2016, President John Comitis spoke out in favor of planning and building a new club-owned stadium. Concrete details of these plans are not yet known.
