Career

Kurek is the son of the Polish national volleyball player Adam Kurek . He started his career in 2004 at AZS PWSZ Nysa . After one season he moved to Zaksa Kędzierzyn-Koźle . In 2007 the universal player made his first appearance in the Polish national team . A year later he went to league rivals Skra Bełchatów . Critics feared he would only be a substitute there, but the club won the national championship and cup double with Kurek in their first season. Then Kurek took part in the European Championship in Turkey , where Poland won the title for the first time. In September 2009, like his teammates, he was awarded the Order of Polonia Restituta . With Bełchatów Kurek successfully defended the title in the Polish league in 2010 and 2011; also won the cup again in 2011. In 2011 he also celebrated further successes with the Polish selection. At the European Championships in Austria and the Czech Republic , Poland achieved third place as well as in the World League , in which Kurek won the ranking of the best scorers. The team finished second in the World Cup . In 2012, Kurek won the national cup competition with Bełchatów for the third time. In the Champions League, as the host of the Final Four, the club was only defeated in the tie-break of the final against VK Zenit-Kazan . In 2012/13 he played for the Russian club VK Dynamo Moscow . Kurek has been playing for Lube Banca Macerata in Italy since 2013 .
