ZAKSA Kędzierzyn-Koźle (until 2007 Mostostal-Azoty SA Kędzierzyn-Koźle ) is a men's volleyball club from Kędzierzyn-Koźle (German: Kandrzin-Cosel ), which plays in the Polish volleyball league .

history

The origins of the club go back to 1947, when KS Bierawianka was founded, which changed its name to Unia Kędzierzyn in 1951 and added volleyball to its program the following year. Another year later, the Kolejarz Railway Club took over the section. In 1969 Unia Kędzierzyn (Kandrzin) merged with the neighboring association Unia Blachownia (Medar-Blechhammer) to form MZKS Chemik (chemist) Kędzierzyn, in which, after the sports hall was built in 1971, an upswing in higher sporting realms began. This continued when the Mostostal company took over the club as “Mostostal-Azoty SA Kędzierzyn-Koźle”, before the current name of the club was adopted in 2007 due to the change to the new sponsor, ZAK SA. The "Zakłady Azotowe Kędzierzyn SA" are the main sponsors of the Kandrzin chemical site, which was founded by the National Socialists with the IG Farben works before the Second World War and which today produces the majority of fertilizers from Poland. The district of Azoty (literally "nitrogen") was only founded under the National Socialists as Heydebreck-Süd, since Kandrzin was called Heydebreck from 1936 onwards. In the district of Azoty, and not as before in Kandrzin, the state-of-the-art new sports hall was built a few years ago, after the club had regularly moved to the voivodeship capital Opole (Opole) for European Cup matches .
