The OK Budvanska Rivijera ( Serbian - Cyrillic Одбојкашки клуб Будванска Ривијера ) is a volleyball club from Budva , Montenegro . It was founded in 1978 as Avala Budva and participates in the Montenegrin volleyball league. He also plays regularly in the Volleyball Champions League or in the CEV Cup .
history
The club was founded in 1978 as Avala Budva and initially took part in the regional championship of the Republic of Montenegro until 1982. From 1982 the team played in the second division of the SFR Yugoslavia .
1991/92 the team finished third in the playoffs of the second division, but was allowed to rise as a successor due to the dissolution of the team Yugoslavia in the first division. Due to the breakup of the SFR Yugoslavia, the volleyball league was reorganized and Avala was relegated to the B division of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia .
Before the 1997/98 season, the club changed its name to Budvanska Rivijera after 21 years due to the main sponsor . In addition, the club got a new coach and new players and achieved the championship title of the second division with 14 wins in 14 games. He also rose to the first division. Until 2006, the club played in the first division of Serbia and Montenegro and won the championship title in 2001. In addition, he won the cup in 2001 and 2002.
OK Budvanska Rivijera has been playing in the first Montenegrin volleyball league since 2006 and competes primarily with OK Budućnost Podgorica .
