Tomasz Gollob
Tomasz Gollob (born April 11, 1971 in Bydgoszcz ) is a Polish speedway driver .
Life
He was a member of the Polish national team that won the World Speedway Team Championship in 1996, 2005, 2007, 2009 and 2010 . On June 10, 2007, Tomasz Gollob and Rune Holta survived a serious plane crash with his private plane. On July 30, 2007 he was awarded the Order of Polonia Restituta by President Lech Kaczyński for his services to the Polish speedway . In 2010 he became speedway team world champion for the fifth time and individual world champion for the first time . In December 2010 he was named Personality of the Year by the FIM world motorcycle association .
On April 23, 2017, Gollob suffered an accident during motocross training in Chełmno . As a result of the fall, he suffered serious spinal injuries. He was operated on for many hours and kept in a pharmacological coma. He has been in a wheelchair since the accident . In December 2017, the Bydgoszcz City Council decided to name a street in Fordon after him.
